She gets fancy this time of year. Holiday party glam and such. • • #ilovela #losangeles #lacityscape #sunsetreflection #darkandlight #goodinthecity #californiachristmas
We got through another #decemberbirthday, historically my toughest one made even more daunting by the new outside the home gig. Together we did it though, with more teamwork, less planning, and more winging than normal. 🙃This all-in kiddo packed as much as we could handle into a 3-hour party...football and Star Wars, crafts and sports, brownies and rainbow sherbet (#gross). Our young guests were great. The kids and house are still standing. I’m lying down but I’ll get up eventually. • • #boyjoy #indoorpiñata #8thegreat #wedidit #gotobed
It’s the second #boyjoys’ birthday today and I have feelings. He has the strongest emotions with the least emotional words and is committed entirely to the moment. He’s the first and last hug of the day, with many in between. He accelerates and decelerates rapidly. He is compassionate, socially adept and too cute. Asher means happy and blessed and he has made us so. Happy 8 the great to our middle man. •
I get to volunteer and serve on the board of @afterhoursmin, a 501(c)(3) committed to loving and empowering victims and survivors of sexual exploitation. I can vouch for its leaders and finances. (!) They need new monthly partners to sustain the relationships and aftercare necessary for excellent work. Please consider this organization if you are passionate about #womenempowerment, #sextrafficking, #restorativejustice, #fostercare, or #losangeles. There is a time for homemade whipped cream and there is a time for ReddiWip. There is a time for weekend stays with sleeping bags and there is a time for hotel rooms and privacy. There is a time for putting up with family’s bad behavior and there is a time for new boundaries and early goodbyes. There is a time for digging in and there is a time for letting go. • Many standards and habits I’ve developed over the years are under construction because of my new job and continued growing up. It’s always humbling to readjust and reexplore; why do we do it that way? What is the most important thing right now? As a first born, over-achiever, #enneagram1, I can take my self and All The Things way too seriously. It is sure freeing to know that there are different times for different things. I grow when I can look at my limits with curiosity and acceptance. • What is it time for, this holiday season? If you could let something go, what comes to mind? What might help you feel safer or healthier post-holiday-family-gathering? • #holidaysurvivalguide #healthyboundaries #knowyourlimits #atimeforeverything #enneagram #trysomethingnew
